Rebel Wilson opens up on losing her virginity at age 35 as she says others 'shouldn’t feel pressured'

The Pitch Perfect actress lifted the lid on her experience with sex

Sex is something that no one should ever feel pressured into, and no one is emphasising that more so now than movie star Rebel Wilson.

The Australian actress - who is already famed across the world for her hilariously honest nature and refreshing relatability - has this week opened up on her sexuality in a series of sincere confessions.

The Pitch Perfect star's debut memoir Rebel Rising is to be released in the coming weeks, and as a result, the on-screen bombshell has been chatting to press in order to promote the tell-all work.

And whilst catching up with PEOPLE Magazine this week, she surprised her fans by revealing she lost her virginity in her 30s - something she lifts the lid on more explicitly in her book.

In the face of a society which conventionally views this as 'late' age to first be intimate with someone, however, the Hollywood icon told the celebrity news outlet that she hopes her unorthodox story will send a 'positive message' to others about the importance in waiting until the time is right for you.

The 44-year-old - who earlier this week branded one big-name star an 'a**hole celebrity' whilst promoting her memoir - wants to reassure young people who might read her book that 'not everybody has to lose their virginity as a teenager'.

"People can wait till they're ready or wait till they're a bit more mature," she said. "And I think that could be a positive message.

"You obviously don't have to wait until you're in your thirties like me, but you shouldn't feel pressure as a young person."

The mother-of-one - who welcomed her daughter Royce back in November 2022, weeks after coming out as gay with her partner Ramona Agruma - reveals she even avoided discussions around sex as a teenager, admitting these types of conversation always left her feeling embarrassed.

"There was one vague time, I think I told my best friend, 'Oh, yeah, I just did it to just get it over with when I was like 23'," she revealed.

"Just to really avoid the questions. Normally I would just leave the room when the conversation was happening.

"And then the people that said, 'Oh, at 24, it's so late'. And then I'm sitting here thinking, 'Oh my God, my number's 35. What the hell? I'm going to look like the biggest loser'," she went on.

Proud of her 'late bloomer' status, she added that her experience of sexuality would have looked 'very different' if she were 20 years younger.
