Social media sensation Maddy Baloy has tragically passed away aged just 26 following a battle with terminal cancer.

The TikTok star was famed for bravely documenting the ins and outs of her health journey online, ever since she broke the news of her initial diagnosis last February.

Ever since uploading her first vlog, Maddy gained millions of followers, all of whom were initially hopeful that they'd see the youngster recover.

Sadly, however, it was not to be, and the online star's family confirmed the news of her death in a statement announced by People Magazine.

Maddy's fiancé, Louis Risher, wrote in the heartbreaking message on Thursday (2 May): "Madison passed away peacefully last night, surrounded with love,"

"She is so special. I turned 27 yesterday, actually. I was holding her hand all day and that’s all I needed."

The Florida-local's health first took a nosedive back in 2022, revealing on the video-sharing app that she'd been enduring stomach issues throughout the summer.

After subsequently experimenting with her diet - cutting certain foods out in an attempt to determine the culprit to her ailing health - in February last year, she was forced to seek medical attention when she started vomiting blood.

On top of this, in the weeks prior, Maddy had begun developing numerous sensory issues.

It was then that doctor's broke the news she'd dreaded most: she had stage 4 colon cancer, which was unlikely to respond to treatment.

Despite her diagnosis, Maddy refused to give up, and set her sights on achieving some of her bucket list goals before she passed.

In a blog posted last year that quickly went viral, she told her colossal fan-base: "Hi my name is Madison and I have stage four terminal cancer, and I haven't taken a bath in a year.

"My cancer is in my large intestine, my small intestine, my uterus, my ovaries, basically the entire lower half of my body is filled up with cancer. Because of that, I had to have an emergency surgery to receive a colostomy [bag]."

With tears in her eyes, she went on to explain: "The only thing that I can think of is how amazing a bath would feel. This house happens to have the most beautiful bath that I've ever seen. But because I have a colostomy, I haven't taken a bath in a year."

In the clip, she went on to reveal that she'd been granted the opportunity to fulfil her life-long ambition of travelling to Kyoto, Japan, where she received the chance to enjoy a bubble bath.

Another item on her list was to meet and have a meal cooked by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey, who quickly agreed and arranged for her to fly to Miami.

After their evening together, the culinary genius wrote online to her: "I hope you had the best time @madison in Miami! It was such an honor for you to be my VVIP last night at #LuckyCat! Thanks to everyone on TikTok too for helping making sure these dreams come true."

She, in turn, responded: "Thank you endlessly for giving me the biggest yes, Chef."

Rest in peace, Maddy.
