Avril Lavigne recently announced that she is engaged to Mod Sun, real name Ryan Smith, and for a lot of millennials it's serving up a dose of noughties déjà vu.
In the midst of all the congratulations, fans are convinced that Avril predicted their partnership back in 2002 with her iconic song Sk8er Boi given that Mod Sun is a tattooed musician with a penchant for skating.
The pair met collaborating on music for Mod Sun's album Internet Killed The Rock Star.

Following the release of the song 'Flames', the duo were photographed spending time together, immediately sparking dating rumours.
The rapper shared photos of the proposal with the romantic caption: "The day we met I knew you were the one. Together forever til our days are done. I had a dream where I proposed in pairs. I pulled out a ring + asked you to wear it. I was on one knee as I looked in your eyes.
"You're too beautiful for my words to describe. I grabbed your hand + took one last breath...I said 'will you marry me?' + she said 'yes'. I love you Avril."
The Girlfriend singer shared the photos to her own account with the caption "Oui! Je t'aime pour toujours :ring:Dimanche. 27. Mars. 2022."

The singer's announcement was met with a chorus of references to the hit song: "He was a boy, you were a girl. Can I make it anymore obvious? Congratulations!!"
"...she said see you later boi" added another.
Another referenced her more recent music commenting: "My jaw just hit the ground:sob::sob:Love doesn't suxk after all:sparkles::two_hearts:So happy for you two legends"
This isn't the first high-profile relationship for either musician.

Avril has previously been married twice, first to Sum 41's Deryck Whibley and then to Nickelback's Chad Kroeger.
Mod Sun was previously in a polyamorous relationship with singer and actress Bella Thorne and internet personality Tana Mongeau.
After the throuple split, Mod and Bella began a monogamous relationship becoming engaged, married and then divorced within a span of 15 months. He then began a monogamous relationship with Tana, although the two quickly split.
